When TEDNext came to Pullman Yards, a historic Atlanta rail yard reborn as an event space, we filled the outdoor grounds with gathering lounges, each one different. We varied the size, configuration, and color from one lounge to the next, so every corner of the campus had its own feel: an intimate nook for a one-on-one here, a wide open cluster for a group there. Between talks, attendees always had a place to land, whether they wanted to talk through an idea, take a call, or sit in the sun. The industrial character of the pallets felt right at home against the yard's brick and steel, and the mix of shapes and colors turned the open space into a lively, connected series of spots that carried the energy of the conference outdoors.
